Recycling Information

The transfer station has brought back recyling, we accept everything that we have in the past plastic milk jugs (only) cardboard, paper, tin cans, aluminum, clear and brown glass bottles and jars, and newspaper. The charge is $55 a ton with a minimum charge of $2.00 for 60 pounds or less. Authority members recycle for free.

The Gogebic Range Transfer Station will charge $108 per ton. The minimum charge is $10.50

TV's, couches, beds, overstuffed chairs, dressers, bikes, carpet, wallboard, floor tiles, roofing, lumber, fencing, etc. No medical or hazardous waste (such as sharps and asbestos).

**Residents only** may bring up to nine (9) automobile/light truck-size tires to the Transfer Station per load at $3.25 per tire. Add $1.00, if the tire is on a rim. Call the transfer station for pricing on oversized tires. Automobile batteries are accepted at no charge. Retail outlets that supply these batteries also accept your old battery for recycling. Some scrap dealers will pay for used batteries. Disposal of motor oil is $1.50 for the first 10 gallons, plus .25 per container over 10 gallons. You may keep your container. One gallon of motor oil, carelessly disposed of can contaminate one million gallons.

Compost and Recyclables are accepted from Gogebic County residents only. Compost includes, yard clippings, leaves, and brush. Prices for compost: Car load $1; pickup truck and/or trailer $3; pickup truck AND trailer or anything larger is $5.

The cost for white goods without a compressor or freon is charged by weight at $108/ton (stoves,washers, dryers, water tanks, microwaves, etc). Refrigerators, dehumidifiers, freezers, and air-conditioners may be disposed for a flat fee of $20. You do not need to remove the compressor or freon.
